ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING (& CONSTRUCTION) – EDISON TOWNSHIP. 

Assists and reports to the ‘Township Engineer/Director of Planning and Engineering’ in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, controlling, integrating, and completing a variety of comprehensive planning, engineering, and construction projects, programs, and activities for the Township of Edison, in the Department of Planning and Engineering; assists in the management and supervision of all department operations and staff; prepares, completes, and/or directly supervises the preparation and completion of, municipal engineering and related projects; does related work as required.

Department consists of the Divisions of Engineering, Construction Code Enforcement, Planning & Zoning, and Community Development.  In the absence of the Director, the Assistant Director of Engineering will be responsible for all activities and operations of the department.  Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or equivalent, with added education in public works or business administration is highly desirable.  Licensure as a Professional Engineer in the State of New Jersey is mandatory – no exceptions

Candidates should also have a minimum of five years of increasingly responsible post-P.E. experience in NJ Municipal/Public Works Engineering, to include the supervision of all aspects of a municipal engineering office, at least two years which must have been in a management position involving department operations, budgets, and in the effective supervision and evaluation of personnel.  Salary DOQ/E, with township benefits.  This position will remain open until filled.  EOE.
