Membership in NJSME offers you the benefits of access to current news and information relevant to the practice of municipal engineering in New Jersey. As a member, you also qualify for discounted rates for continuing education credits offered at our General Membership meetings.

NJSME offers five levels of membership as detailed below:

Member
Any Professional Engineer who is engaged by any municipality of the State of New Jersey as either the Official Municipal Engineer, or as the full-time head of a department having jurisdiction over the engineering department, bureau or division, shall be a member, and any Professional Engineer who is employed by the duly appointed Municipal Engineer and is yearly designated by said Municipal Engineer as the representative to the municipality for all duties represented by said appointment, shall also be eligible to be a member.

Associate Member
Any of the following shall be eligible:

  • The direct assistant to the Municipal Engineer
  • Any NJ licensed Professional Engineer or Certified Engineer-in-Training.
  • The County Engineer of any county in New Jersey.

Affiliate Member
Any of the following shall be eligible:

  • Any Municipal, County or State government employee.
  • Any New Jersey Licensed Professional Engineer or certified Engineer-In-Training
  • Any employee or member of an organization currently providing products or services in support of the municipal engineering profession in the state of New Jersey.

Past Active Member
Any Municipal Engineer who has been a Member for a continuous period of three years and who ceases to qualify as a Member because of termination of employment as a Municipal Engineer, shall be eligible for membership as a Past Active Member.

 

Student Member
Any person who is enrolled full time in an ABET-accredited program leading to a degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology is eligible for membership as a Student Member.

 

Life Member *NEW*
Any of the following shall be eligible for Life Member status:

  • A member in “good standing” in this Society or its predecessor continuously for thirty years.
  • A member in “good standing” in this Society or its predecessor continuously for twenty years and has retired from his/her official position.

Life Members are exempt from payment of any annual dues and shall retain the rights and privileges of their previous class of membership. Fill out the form now!
